Dirk knows he is never going to meet Jake any day. Because the time lines are so apart, and the fact Jake is already dead where he is from. But he went into the game with hopes of meeting Jake. He didn’t care if he had to give up his life at one point, or even fight by himself for years. He just wanted that split second to hopefully one day meet Jake. His love for Jake and his brother Dave, were the only things to keep him going.

He passed away never meeting Jake.
